How do I determine if my window or patio door is LH or RH?
CASEMENT:
Standing on the inside facing your window, your sash lock will determine the swing of your window. If your sash lock is on the LH side it is a LH swing.
FRENCHWOOD HINGED DOOR:
Standing on the inside facing your door, your active panel will determine the swing of your door. If the handle set is on the LH side of active panel it is a LH swing.
FRENCHWOOD AND GLIDING DOORS:
Standing on the inside facing your door, your active panel will determine the handing of your door. If your active panel slides to the left it is a LH.

How do I determine the model number of my window?
Remove your screen and look for a stamped number on the side, or measure the inside visible glass with your width first, height second.

Can I upgrade my weather-stripping?
Yes. This is an easy do-it-yourself project. If your window is a casement or awning and was manufactured between 1978 and 1984 you can replace your existing old style vinyl kerf weather-strip with the new flexible bulb style weather-strip.

Can I replace the interior stops on my windows?
Yes. Whether you want a change to update your stain or paint color or replace one that has become damaged. Just measure the inside visible glass size to determine the model number of your window. Next, provide the style of operator the window has, straight arm or split arm, along with the handing of the window. (Split arm operators have a pivot point in the arm that opens the window.)

Can I change my hardware to white?
Yes. This change can be easily made. It requires a new lexan cover, handle, and sash lock. Screens are also available in white.

What is the procedure for replacing an operator?
Remove the interior vent sill stop using a stiff blade putty knife or small wonder-bar. Remove the operator screws; disengage the operator shoe from operator channel or stud. To install the new operator reverse the procedure.

Can I paint my vinyl Perma-Shield Windows?
Yes, if directions are carefully followed. For more information on this contact Andersen Corporation Inc. attn: Sales Promotion Department.

How do I clean the vinyl?
Most dirt, dust and general airborne solids can be removed with a mild detergent and water using a soft cloth. For paints, stains, varnishes or oils use mineral spirits, turpentine or naphtha.
